Error: The operation cannot be ... (due to inconsistent subdoc protection).
Error:
The operation cannot be completed because the subdocument has a different type of protection from the master document. Make the protection the same for the master document and the subdocuments.
Cause:
There are three possible causes:
1) The document master document may be unprotected and the subdocument is protected,
2) The revision marking is turned on in either the subdocument or master document,
3) Both the subdocument and master are protected but under a different types.
Solution:
Eliminate all protection for both the master and subdocuments and give both documents the same type of protection.
1) Remove the protection on the subdocument.
a) Open the subdocument.
b) Select the 'Tools' menu and select 'Protect Document...'.
c) Deselect ALL the radio buttons in the 'Protect Document For' section.
d) Type the password to change document protection.
e) Click 'OK'.
2) Remove the protection on the master document.
a) Open the subdocument.
b) Select the 'Tools' menu and select 'Protect Document...'.
c) Deselect ALL the radio buttons in the 'Protect Document For' section.
d) Type the password to change document protection.
e) Click 'OK'.
3) Replace protection on the subdocument.
a) Return to the subdocument.
b) Select the 'Tools' menu and select 'Protect Document...'.
c) Select the desired radio buttons in the 'Protect Document For' section.
d) Type the password to change document protection.
e) Click 'OK'.
4) Replace protection on the master document.
a) Return to the master document.
b) Select the 'Tools' menu and select 'Protect Document...'.
c) Select the desired radio buttons in the 'Protect Document For' section.
d) Type the password to change document protection.
e) Click 'OK'.
